Celebrating her sister,Venus, who made her co-chair debut at the 2026 event, Serena wore a custom Marc Jacobs look to play with the “Fashion Is Art” theme. Working with the designer, she mixed metals, wearing a silver dress with gold accents.

The high-low piece was crafted with a one-shoulder silhouette, hip pads, and a train of crushed silver. A gold vine snaked down her exposed leg to matching strappy heels.

Serena has been out and about in New York City ahead of the function, attending a handful of pre-party soirées. On Saturday night, she stopped by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s kick-off gathering with her husband, Alex Ohanian. She wore a sculptural gray minidress for the event.

The following evening, she one-upped herself with a striking red gown, attending Anna Wintour’s pre-party in a backless number with a high leg slit.

The 2019 Met Gala Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion - Arrivals

Serena co-chaired the Met Gala herself back in 2019, when the theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion.” She wore a neon yellow gown by Atelier Versace, with puffy sleeves and pink floral detailing. She paired the dress with Nike x Off-White Air Force One sneakers in an equally-as-blinding green shade.

In addition to Venus, the 2026 event was co-chaired by Beyoncé and Nicole Kidman—with additional committee members including Anthony Vaccarello, Zoë Kravitz, Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Lena Dunham, Teyana Taylor, and more. It celebrated the Costume Institute’s new exhibit, “Costume Art,” which explored the relationship between fashion and the body.
