Packers expect Micah Parsons to begin camp on PUP

Packers expect Micah Parsons to begin camp on PUP

Edge rusher Micah Parsons is not likely to participate in training camp when the Packers start daily preseason workouts, head coach Matt LaFleur said after the team's Wednesday OTA practice.

Field Level Media

Parsons is five months into his recovery from a torn ACL and sparked debate about his rapid progress in a social media post of his workouts in sand.

Green Bay lost Parsons at Denver on December 14 in a non-contact injury. He broke through pass protection on the right side of the Broncos' line and fell to the turf as his left knee buckled two steps shy of sacking Denver's Bo Nix.

Parsons, who has 65 career sacks in five NFL campaigns, turned 27 on Tuesday as the Packers began organized team activities. Parsons and running back Josh Jacobs, who was taken into custody because of an alleged domestic violence incident but released without being formally charged, were the only two veterans not present for the Packers.

LaFleur said tight end Tucker Kraft, also returning from an ACL tear, is ahead of Parsons' pace due to the timing of his injury in early November.

He could be back before or during training camp.

Right tackle Zach Tom, who suffered a torn patella tendon in the Dec. 14 loss to the Broncos, likely won't return to on-field workouts until training camp.

"Thank you for your patience that you’ve shown in a personal and private matter for me and obviously everybody involved. I know that that's not easy for you and I respect that and I appreciate that," hetold reporters.

"I understand I could’ve addressed you guys sooner, but it was important to me to have a conversation with the players, which I did yesterday, very candidly," Vrabel continued. "I take accountability for my actions and the actions that caused a distraction to the people that I care most about. My family, this football team, the organization and the fans."

UConn women’s basketball to begin series with Iowa in 2026-27 season

May 26, 2026
UConn women’s basketball to begin series with Iowa in 2026-27 season

UConn and Iowa are two of the most recognizable brands in women’s college basketball, but the Huskies and Hawkeyes haven’t played each other all that often.

USA TODAY

That will change next season when the two programs begin a home-and-home series. Iowa will travel to UConn for a non-conference game Nov. 8. The Huskies will travel to Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City in the 2027-28 season.

UConn hasn’t played a game at Iowa in more than two decades, last visiting Carver-Hawkeye in 1999.

The Huskies are 7-4 all-time against the Hawkeyes, but Iowa took the last victory and it was a meaningful one. The two teams met up in the 2024 Final Four in Cleveland with a Lisa Bluder-coached Iowa team taking a narrow 71-69 victory over Geno Auriemma’s Huskies.

Caitlin Clark, named the consensus National Player of the Year that season, finished with 21 points, but the end of the contest was a nailbiter.

UConn trailed by one point with nine seconds left after KK Arnold stole the ball. However, on the ensuing possession, the referees whistled Huskies forward Aaliyah Edwards for an illegal screen with 3.9 seconds remaining, handing the ball back to Iowa. Clark was fouled, hit the first free throw and missed the next, but Iowa got the rebound with 1.1 seconds to go. On the second of two inbounds plays, the Hawkeyes got a pass in to clinch the win.

“I'm just frustrated with the loss” UConn’s Paige Bueckers, who finished with 17 points, said. “I mean, we can talk about officiating, but players play. Players decide the game.”

Fans will hope that these next two meetings between the Hawkeyes and Huskies are just as memorable.

UConn is coming off a year where it started 38-0 before losing in the Final Four to South Carolina. Iowa, in coach Jan Jensen’s second year, was upset on its home floor in the second round by Virginia.

Both programs return star players in the front court, with Sarah Strong back for the Huskies and Ava Heiden starring for the Hawkeyes.

UConn is piecing together an impressive non-conference slate that also features matchups with South Carolina, Duke, Michigan and Maryland.

No. 6 seed Daniil Medvedev upset; Frenchman Moise Kouame (age 17) advances

No. 6 seed Daniil Medvedev upset; Frenchman Moise Kouame (age 17) advances

No. 6 seed Daniil Medvedev lost in the first round of the French Open for the seventh time in 10 appearances at Roland Garros, dropping a five-set match to Australian wild card Adam Walton, 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 on Tuesday on Suzanne-Lenglen Court.

Field Level Media

Other seeds to exit in Paris on Tuesday included No. 9 seed Alexander Bublik, No. 20 Cameron Norrie, No. 29 Tallon Griekspoor and No. 30 Corentin Moutet.

Medvedev melted down in the heat, took a verbal lashing for his on-court behavior from his wife seated courtside but still had a chance to put away Walton, the 97th-ranked men's singles player who was 4-9 this season entering his first clay-court match of the year.

Walton, who played in the second round at the French Open in 2025, trailed 4-2 in the fifth and appeared to be more ragged than his opponent in the match that lasted three hours and 22 minutes.

He required a medical break after the second set to take a salt tablet as neither player found much consistency until the decider.

And it was Walton who gained his second wind. He took the next four games to oust Medvedev and beat him for the second time in their three career matches. Medvedev dropped to 0-4 in five-set matches in the French Open, 10-10 in his career.

"Pretty tired now. It was an up and down match. I felt like the ebbs and flows of the match were quite large today," Walton said post-match in an on-court interview. "Just really proud of my efforts in the fifth set to come from a break down to get the win. It's huge. Beating him in Cincinnati (in 2025) definitely gave me the belief today. I knew I could do it. I believed. Just really happy with performance. Just really excited right now."

Catapulted by his first win over a top-10 opponent, Walton will oppose American Zachary Svajda in the second round.

Bublik lost 7-5, 6-7 (6), 6-4, 7-5 to Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff. The Russian-born Kazakhstani, who was a quarterfinalist last year, had a chance to serve out the fourth set but hit two straight double faults, grabbing his shoulder and requiring a medical timeout in between. The 36-year-old Struff then won four games in a row for the victory.

Griekspoor of the Netherlands fell to 104th-ranked Matteo Arnaldi of Italy 6-7 (9), 6-3, 7-6 (6), 6-3. Arnaldi won every service game in the fourth set without dropping a point and earned the win on his first match point.

Moutet of France lost a five-set marathon to unseeded Vit Kopriva. The Czech hit 61 winners in the four-hour, 20-minute match to defeat Moutet 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Norrie retired after 78 minutes down 7-6, 2-0 down to Paraguay's Daniel Vallejo. It was the first time in 12 years the reliable Brit has retired from a match and the first time he hasn't made it past the first round of a Grand Slam since the 2024 Australian Open.

In other Tuesday evening action, Frenchman Moise Kouame became the youngest winner at Roland Garros since 1991. The 17-year-old downed U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic in his grand slam tournament debut, 7-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Cilic was 20 and a top-20 ranked men's player the day Kouame was born.

With vocal support from the home crowd, Kouame played well above his current ranking of No. 313 in the world with poise and precision to keep the 37-year-old Cilic, playing in the French Open main draw for the 18th time, off-balance.

Kouame was a winner on Court Simonne-Mathieu and advances to take on Paragauy's Adolfo Daniel Vallejo. Britain's Cameron Norrie, who has been nursing a rib injury, retired from their first-round match at the French Open while trailing in the second set, 0-2. He lost the first set on a tiebreak.

  • "A lot of things changed in terms of the order and certain characters in the ensemble, but what happens with Deborah Vance, we pitched, oh my God, seven years ago," he reveals

  • The Hacks series finale airs Thursday, May 28, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO

Paul W. Downshas known howHacksends since the beginning.

The HBO series follows the story of the legendary, but aging, comedian Deborah Vance, played byJean Smart. Downs plays her agent, Jimmy, and also created the series, which debuted in 2021.

“We pitched the ending to almost every network when we were pitching the show," Downs, 43, tells PEOPLE at the American Music Awards on Sunday, May 24. "I mean, obviously, things change. Actually, a lot of things changed for Jimmy and Kayla, a lot of things changed. "A lot of things changed in terms of the order and certain characters in the ensemble, but what happens with Deborah Vance, we pitched, oh my God, seven years ago."

“It’s something that we pitched when we pitched the series," he says. "And the fact that we were able to do it is the proudest I've been about the show."

The fact that he and his fellow creators were able to pull it off as they intended was not set in stone, even up until the final days.

“Honestly, the day after [wrapping] we all felt relief because we got it, because until the very end, we didn't know if we would actually get to shoot everything we wanted to shoot, so that felt really good, but it's so sad to say goodbye to these characters who became our friends,” Downs says.

While Downs had the ending planned since the start, Smart, 74, didn't feel the same way.

“I don’t remember ever picturing or even imagining an ending,” she toldDeadline. “I knew that it was going to be pretty much five seasons from the beginning, but I didn’t ask. I just was like, I’ll be surprised."

When she found out how it ends, "I was shocked and unsure about how I felt, because it was not remotely anything I could have imagined," she admitted. “But then I realized, no, it’ll work because they’re writing it and they’re amazing. And so I went, ‘Okay.’”

Downs’s character, Jimmy, became a fan favorite over the course of the series, as did his co-worker and business partner Kayla Schaefer, played byMegan Stalter. Fans, they both admit, are clamoring for a spinoff based on their characters, something they’re not opposed to. “Meg’s always saying yes,” he says.

Stalter, who joined him on the red carpet at the awards show, tells PEOPLE, “I keep saying to people, yes, because I figure the more I say yes, the more people will ask, and I just feel like we really should.”

TheHacksseries finale airs on Thursday, May 28, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

NEED TO KNOW

  • Austin, 32, will be strutting her stuff while six months pregnant with her first baby

  • Austin married husband Lane Armstrong in May 2024

Katie Austinis getting to work the runway, with her baby bump leading the way.

The model and fitness influencer, 32, is preparing to walk inSports IllustratedSwim Week's runway show. While it's her sixth time hitting the runway forSI Swim, this year is extra special for Austin as she's walking while six months pregnant with her first baby.

Speaking with PEOPLE about her pregnancy journey and getting ready for the runway, Austin is happy to report she's feeling better than she did in her first trimester.

"The first trimester was brutal. I did not feel like myself. I felt very alone, to be quite frank," she says, noting that she was experiencing morning sickness "24/7."

"There was all-day long sickness. I didn't love the foods I usually love. Didn't love coffee, didn't feel like working out. But at the same time, finding those 10 to 15 minutes just to try to feel like myself was really beneficial."

Never miss a story — sign up forPEOPLE's free daily newsletterto stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

The younger of fitness icon Denise Austin's two daughters, she admits she's felt an "identity shift" while managing her changing body.

"My business is run on feeling good and wellness and loving your body. And obviously, with those changes with pregnancy, especially as a first-time pregnant girl, it was very new to me to have a changing body. My body, to me, changed very fast."

Austin, founder ofThe KA App, notes that she had to completely reconsider the routine she's meticulously developed over the years as she weathered the changes.

"I'm kind of type A when it comes to my routine and what I like. I've taken years to figure out what I like and don't like, and what makes me happy and what brings me joy. And so I feel like when the normal things weren't working, or I didn't want to do them, it took me a while to be like, 'Okay, you can't plan for s--t,' " she tells PEOPLE.

"This is not something where you can wake up and be like, 'I'm going to feel amazing today,' or next week, or the following week, or know what your body is going to want or look like in a week, in two weeks, in a month. You can't plan for anything. I think that has been the hardest part and kind of humbling me, if you will."

Before modeling and her own fitness endeavors, Austin was a Division I lacrosse player and a soccer player during her time at the University of Southern California. Combined with her background, it made for a continued devotion to fitness after her college career ended.

"The last decade, I've been kind of pushing my body, and even in the days I don't feel like working out, I don't really have as much grace for myself, but now I have to have a lot of grace for myself. What I've really come to understand now, I would say, after I got out of the first trimester and I started feeling good, I looked back, and I was like, 'I wish I just told myself that it's a phase of life. Number one, it's temporary; you're going to get out of it. And number two, if you think that a good workout is going to be the same as it was before you got pregnant, you are seriously mistaken, and you're going to set yourself up for failure.'"

Austin now understands she'll be "redefining what strength is" throughout every stage of her pregnancy, "because strength is going to look different every single day in pregnancy."

The model mom-to-be is also applying that attitude to her preparation for theSports IllustratedSwim runway.

"Everything's different this year," she explains. "I feel like usually, I would have a little bit more of a workout regimen and be watching a little bit more of what I eat. But at this stage of my life, being six months pregnant, it's not really going to matter as much of what I eat. So I think making sure I'm eating the right things as far as feeling good, I think that's the entire point of it."

Other lead-up preparations include "trying to calm the jitters."

"This year is different because I cannot take my annual tequila shot before the runway, so I'll be missing that," she laughs. "But it'll be good because I love the girls this year. I think this is our best group of girls yet. Their energy will help as well, and they're such a great team."

Austin continues, "I'll be practicing my walk because I can nail a walk when I'm not pregnant, but I'm not sure how the belly is going to waddle. And this year is also different because Hulu will be documenting everything, which is really exciting. It's going to be fun. I feel like my baby girl is going to be my best accessory I've ever had on the runway."

"I feel really great now, and I definitely learned a lot, and I'm really happy to say that I'll be prepared for next pregnancy because now I know what to expect."

Ranking the AFC North at the midpoint of the NFL offseason

May 25, 2026
Ranking the AFC North at the midpoint of the NFL offseason

We have officially crossed the halfway point of the NFL offseason. That sounds strange to say, but the calendar doesn’t lie. 15 Sundays have passed since the Super Bowl. 15 more remain until Week 1 delivers a full slate of regular-season football, including the firstBaltimore Ravensgame of their 31st season.

USA TODAY

Before we get there comes the annual grind. OTAs are underway or rapidly approaching. Mandatory minicamps loom. Training camp debates will soon dominate headlines. OTA dates for every team are listed below:

Position battles will be overanalyzed. Injury updates will fuel unnecessary panic. Somewhere in there, optimism will convince fan bases that their teams solved every glaring issue. That makes this the perfect time for a little perspective.

The AFC North remains what it always seems to be: physical, annoying, unpredictable, and almost always one of football’s toughest divisions to navigate. There are no easy Sundays here. Even the team projected to finish last usually finds ways to make life miserable for everyone else. That said, some teams clearly feel better positioned than others.

1.Baltimore Ravens

Forget what happened last season. This is Baltimore’s division. The Ravens’ disappointing 2025 campaign didn’t erase the larger truth.

This remains one of the NFL’s most stable organizations, one led by Lamar Jackson and supported by a front office that consistently keeps the roster competitive. The coaching transition adds intrigue, but the talent remains obvious.

Trey Hendrickson helps solve a longstanding pass-rush issue. The secondary looks dangerous. The culture is intact. There are questions, sure, but the Ravens still feel like the division’s most complete team.

2.Cincinnati Bengals

A healthy Joe Burrow changes everything. Or perhaps, more accurately, ahealthier-than-usualJoe Burrow changes everything. Cincinnati’s ceiling will always be tied directly to No. 9.

If he stays upright, the Bengals can absolutely challenge Baltimore for the division crown. If he doesn’t, the conversation changes quickly. The upside remains undeniable.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers

Yes, Pittsburgh won the division. It can also be argued that the best team didn’t. That isn’t disrespect. It’s context.

Mike Tomlin always kept this team competitive. The Steelers deserve credit for their consistency, but the ship will now be steered by Mike McCarthy, who reunites with Aaron Rodgers.

That raises the intrigue level significantly. Questions remain about whether this roster is truly built to repeat, but it feels as though it absolutely is.

4. Cleveland Browns

No team offers stranger quarterback theater. Three quarterbacks believe they should start, and honestly, all three can make some sort of argument.

Still, this likely ends with Deshaun Watson under center unless something unexpected happens. That alone makes Cleveland difficult to trust.

Texas (40-13) is making its record 65thNCAA appearance and is hosting for the 39thtime in program history.

TheLonghornsfell to Arkansas in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament.

Texas is one of 12 SEC teams in the 64-team NCAA field.

Sophomore left-hander Dylan Volantis (8-1, 2.00, 109 strikeouts, 22 walks) heads the Longhorns’ pitching staff and ranks fourth in the country in ERA.

Freshman left fielder Anthony Pack Jr. was the SEC Freshman of the Year after leading the conference in batting average (.400) in SEC games.

Last season, Holy Cross played in the Chapel Hill Regional and lost games to North Carolina and Nebraska.

HC graduated eight seniors from that outstanding team and started 2026 slowly before coming together down the stretch. Lauren Betts shares the advice Kiki Rice said after their WNBA debut

Jumping to the professional ranks is an adjustment for everyone, even if you’re fresh off of an All-American season. FormerUCLA BruincenterLauren Bettshas found that out this spring as she’s adjusting to the WNBA in her rookie season with the Washington Mystics.

USA TODAY

Betts’ college career couldn’t have ended any better, starring for the Bruinsduring the team’s NCAA title run. Betts’ overall scoring numbers went down in her senior season but the 6’7” Betts showed she can still carry an offense throughout the tournament.

Her reward was being takenfourth overall by the Mystics. Overall, Betts has had a quiet rookie season, putting up 5.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Betts’WNBA debutdidn’t go as planned, scoring zero points but she caught up with former UCLA teammate Kiki Rice postgame who offered some words of wisdom.

“I was talking to Ki about that, I remember the first game I was so pissed. I don’t remember the last time I had zero points,” Betts said of theBird’s Eye View podcast with Sue Bird. “She’s like ‘Some days you’re going to be the shit and other days you’re going to be a fire hydrant.’ I was like ‘You’re right. I am the fire hydrant today and that’s OK.’ and that’s just how it is your rookie year. I think the biggest thing is that you can’t compare your process to other people.”

It’s tough for the sixUCLA BruinsWNBA draft picks to not get compared to one another as they’re all beginning their professional journey shortly after a dominant season of college basketball.

Sean McVay still sounds haunted by Eagles’ wild win over Rams

Sean McVay still sounds haunted by Eagles’ wild win over Rams

Some matchups just become oddly one-sided, even when the teams involved should be evenly matched. That has quietly become the case whenever thePhiladelphia EaglesandLos Angeles Ramsshare a field. They aren't rivals per se, but there are times when it feels like this is where it's headed.

USA TODAY

Over the past four seasons, no NFL team has defeated theRamsmore often than theEagles, not even the teams in their division. Not theSan Francisco 49ers. Not theSeattle Seahawks. Not theArizona Cardinals, all division rivals who see Sean McVay's team far more regularly. Philadelphia has somehow become the franchise that Los Angeles simply can't seem to shake. The most recent chapter probably explains why the scars remain fresh. Their latest meeting delivered the kind of drama that leaves both fan bases emotionally exhausted. The Rams built a comfortable lead and appeared firmly in control, only for the Eagles to claw their way back into the fight. What followed felt less like a standard NFL finish and more like controlled chaos.

Philadelphia blocked one field goal. Then, they blocked another.

The second became the moment everyone remembers, asJordan Davis scooped the loose ball, rumbled to the end zone, and turned a defensive special-teams dagger into an unforgettable punctuation mark. Apparently, Sean McVay hasn't fully moved on. During a recent sit-down onBussin' With The Boys, the Rams head coach was asked about the game, and judging by his tone, the memory still sounds painfully vivid.

More than eight months have passed, yet McVay discussed Jordan Davis' block-and-score sequence with the kind of detail that suggests the replay still visits him uninvited. Honestly, that makes perfect sense. NFL coaches are wired differently. Most fans remember the result. Coaches remember every missed assignment, every breakdown, every decision they wish they could have back.

For an offensive mind as detail-obsessed as McVay, losing in that fashion probably doesn't fade cleanly. And why would it? Games like that don't simply sting because you lost. They sting because you had control, watched it disappear, and then got buried beneath one of the season's strangest finishes.

For Eagles fans, it was exhilarating. For Sean McVay? It still sounds like a horror story with Jordan Davis playing the final villain.
